Ebbsfleet United Match Preview

Tonbridge Angels return to Enterprise National League South action on Saturday afternoon as fellow Kent side Ebbsfleet United visit the Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead. Kick-off is at 3pm.

The Angels head into the weekend sixth in the table, having collected 14 points from their opening nine league matches, with only five points separating them from leaders Maidstone United.

Saturday also brings a return to league action following last weekend’s FA Cup victory over Ramsgate. Tonbridge had to work hard for their place in the Third Qualifying Round, coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory through goals from Jephte Tanga and Bunmi Babajide.

Ebbsfleet arrive at Longmead having played considerably fewer league matches than the rest of the division following a delayed start to their campaign.

Manager’s Thoughts

Angels boss Alan Dunne said: “Ebbsfleet have had a belated start to this season for reasons that have been well documented.

“However, you always know that Fleet are going to be there or thereabouts – they are definitely one of the big-hitters in the National South and always likely to be challenging at the end of the season. They did the double over us last season so we’re going to be determined to stop that.”

Last Time Out

The Angels progressed in the FA Cup last Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ramsgate at the Yeomans Community Stadium.

The Isthmian Premier Division visitors took the lead from the penalty spot through Alfie Paxman before Tanga brought Tonbridge level with his sixth goal of the season. Ramsgate were reduced to ten men shortly before half-time, but continued to frustrate the Angels after the break.

The breakthrough eventually arrived eight minutes from time. Tanga worked his way to the byline before finding the returning Babajide, who finished to send Tonbridge through to the Third Qualifying Round in which they will host Torquay United.

Recent Meetings

Ebbsfleet have enjoyed the better of the recent meetings between the two Kent clubs, winning three of the last five competitive encounters.

The sides met twice last season following Ebbsfleet’s return to the Enterprise National League South. Ebbsfleet won 1-0 at home on Boxing Day before leaving Longmead with a 2-1 victory in April.

Tonbridge’s most recent victory in this fixture came in November 2022, when the Angels secured a 2-1 win away from home.

3 April 2026: Tonbridge Angels 1-2 Ebbsfleet United
26 December 2025: Ebbsfleet United 1-0 Tonbridge Angels
11 March 2023: Tonbridge Angels 1-1 Ebbsfleet United
12 November 2022: Ebbsfleet United 1-2 Tonbridge Angels
23 April 2022: Tonbridge Angels 0-1 Ebbsfleet United

The Opposition

Ebbsfleet United’s league position comes with some important context, with the Fleet having played just three league matches so far this season following a delayed start to their campaign.

They currently sit 22nd with five points, but remain unbeaten in league action. Their campaign began with a 2-0 victory away at Walton & Hersham before consecutive home draws against Hemel Hempstead and Salisbury.

Last weekend in the FA Cup, they recorded a 3-1 victory away at Maidenhead United, meaning they arrive at Longmead unbeaten in all four competitive matches they have played this season.

With several games in hand across the division, their current league position offers little indication of the challenge awaiting Angels on Saturday.
