Farnborough Match Preview

Tonbridge Angels return to the road on Saturday afternoon as Alan Dunne’s side travel to the Saunders Transport Community Stadium to face Farnborough in the Enterprise National League South. Kick-off is at 3pm.

The Angels make the trip to Hampshire on the back of an impressive 5-1 victory over Walton & Hersham at Longmead on Bank Holiday Monday. A five-star performance brought a first home win of the season and moved Tonbridge into the early play-off places, with Dunne’s side now fifth after six games.

Attention now turns back to the road, where the Angels remain unbeaten this season. Wins at Braintree Town and Dover Athletic were followed by a 2-2 draw at Billericay Town, and Tonbridge will be looking to extend that unbeaten away start against a Farnborough side who have begun the campaign strongly themselves.

Manager’s Thoughts

Alan Dunne said: “Farnborough away is always a tough game. They’ve had a decent start but we travel with confidence on the back of a big win, a good return of four points over the Bank Holiday, and we’re ready for the challenge.

“Teams will be wary of us but we always respect other teams. Farnborough look like they’re going to be a lot stronger than they were last year, similar to ourselves but we’re scoring plenty of goals and we’re looking forward to the game.”

Recent Meetings

There have been plenty of goals when the two sides have met recently, with the last five encounters producing 23 in total.

Both meetings last season were particularly eventful. The sides shared six goals in a 3-3 draw at Longmead in August before the Angels produced a memorable performance in Hampshire towards the end of the campaign, winning 6-1 at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium.

18 April 2026: Farnborough 1-6 Tonbridge Angels

The Opposition

Farnborough have enjoyed a positive opening to the season after finishing 19th in National League South last time around.

Saturday’s hosts have taken 10 points from their opening five matches, beginning with a 2-1 victory away at Maidstone United. A 2-0 home defeat against Hemel Hempstead Town followed before Farnborough responded with a 1-0 win over Chesham United and a 1-1 draw at Maidenhead United.

They returned to winning ways on Bank Holiday Monday with a 2-0 victory at Braintree Town, leaving them eighth in the early table with a game in hand on the Angels.

There could also be a familiar face in the Farnborough ranks. Dajon Golding joined the club in August, having previously spent time with the Angels during the 2022/23 season. Golding has featured in each of Farnborough’s last four matches and was handed a start in Monday’s victory at Braintree.

Looking Ahead

Both sides head into Saturday with 10 points on the board following encouraging starts to the campaign. Tonbridge sit fifth after six matches, while Farnborough are eighth having played one game fewer.

The Angels arrive following their biggest victory of the season and a first home win of the campaign, while Farnborough have also won three of their opening five.

Tonbridge will be looking to protect an unbeaten away record that has brought seven points from three trips so far. With both clubs sitting in the top eight at this early stage of the season, Saturday provides another opportunity for the Angels to build on Monday’s five-star performance and continue their strong start.

Safe travels to everyone making the journey to Hampshire, and we’ll see you there.
