Champion of Champions U18 Clash

Angels youth are gearing up for a huge week which starts with a ‘Champion of Champions’ semi-final showdown on Monday at the Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead.

Two weeks ago the U18s were crowned champions of the Isthmian Youth League (East) and now go head to head with Burgess Hill Town U18s who won the South section.

The winners will face the victors of the Northwood v Kingstonian clash, who won the West and Central leagues respectively. The final will take place at Three Bridges FC on Monday 11 May with the winners earning the coveted title of Champion of Champions.

Monday’s game kicks off at 7.45pm and Head of Community and team manager Dom Welsh is expecting a stern challenge:

“This will be a really tough test for us,” says Dom. “Burgess Hill have had a really strong U18 set up for the last few years. We played them in the FA Youth Cup a couple of seasons ago and they knocked us out in a thriller. Gary Mansell was their manager then and he’s now their first team manager.

“So we’re looking for a little bit of revenge – they are a really good ball playing team with a similar style to us so we’re expecting a good game and it would be great to get a few people down there to cheer us on.”

Monday’s game is quickly followed by the Kent County Cup Intermediate Final for the U18 group at U23 level on Wednesday when Hollands and Blair U23s are the opponents.

This is at the Bauvill Stadium, home of Chatham Town FC with a 7.45pm kick off.

Come on you Angels!
