On Saturday we welcome AFC Totton to the Yeomans Community Stadium for the first time since 2001 and for the very first time in a National League South fixture.
AFC Totton made a great start to their first season at Step Two and in early September they sat fourth in the table. Their form has dipped of late but they remain 11th with 36 points from their 25 games. Three wins have come away from home but they haven’t won a league game on the road since September.
AFC Totton are managed by Jimmy Ball, son of World Cup winner Alan Ball, and has been in charge since March 2022, leading the club to promotion from the Southern League Premier following a play-off win against Gloucester City.
The man to watch is Tony Lee with 16 goals league and cup goals including three in the last two games. He netted two against the Angels as Totton celebrated their first home game in National League South with a 3-0 win in August.
They have one ex-Angel, Christie Ward, who was on loan with us last season from Wycombe Wanderers. The best known names in their side otherwise are the 39 year-old, ex-Aldershot and Maidstone United striker Scott Rendell and the former Gillingham full back Ryan Jackson.
The Hampshire club’s previous visit was for a FA Cup Preliminary Round tie in September of 2001 with the Angels progressing following a 4-1 win with goals from Brendan Cass (2), Mark Greatorex and an own goal.
Admission prices for Saturday’s game are: Adults £18; Concessions £15; Youths £8 and Under-12’s free with accompanying adult with tickets available HERE .
Saturday’s match will see our very first School Partner Day where we hope to see a host of new younger fans and their parents attending the game.
Over the last two weeks the club has distributed hundreds of complimentary tickets to local schools we work with in the community. The following schools have received match tickets and parents can apply for tickets directly with their relevant school: Longmead, Slade, St. Margaret’s, Plaxtol, Woodlands, Cage Green, Hildenborough, East Peckham, Sussex Road and Bishop Chavasse.
The aim is to encourage parents to take advantage of the free adult and child tickets and bring along their children to the Yeomans Community Stadium to experience live football in a safe, welcoming and positive environment.
Gates open at 1 pm with the Sports Bar open from the outset with the offer of Carling at £4.50 per pint or £8 for two pints. The Tea Hut serving burgers, hot dogs, butties, hot and cold drinks and Fries Like An Angel, serving all your favourite loaded chips are also open from 1 pm. The Pie Shack opens from 1.30 pm.
