Tonbridge Angels are delighted to confirm that our Women’s First Team has been promoted to the London & South East Regional League for season 2026/27.
The team, managed by Joe Rowe, finished runners-up in the South East Counties League Kent Premier Division for a second successive season in 2025/26. The women also reached two cup semi-finals and enjoyed an impressive FA Cup run in which they were narrowly beaten by Brentford in the Second Qualifying Round.
Following expansion of the WSL and other vacancies arising in higher tiers, our application was considered by the FA Women’s Football Pyramid Committee and we are proud that our outstanding record on and off the field since formation in 2023 has been formally recognised.
Joe Rowe said “To receive confirmation of promotion is a fantastic moment for everyone involved with the club. The players have worked incredibly hard over the course of the season, so I’m delighted they get this reward.
“This promotion is recognition not only of our performances on the pitch, but also the work that goes on behind the scenes from our staff, volunteers and everyone at the club who has supported the growth of the women’s section since its formation three seasons ago.
“We are proud of what we have achieved, but this is not the end of the journey. Tier Six will provide a new challenge and one we are excited to embrace. We aren’t just looking to make up the numbers, we want to continue to build something that our players, supporters and community can be proud of.”
Tonbridge Angels Chair Sophie Purves said: “The success of our women’s first team since its formation only three seasons ago has been nothing but phenomenal thanks to the leadership of manager, Joe Rowe.
“I am very proud to see these exceptional women gain promotion to Tier Six of the women’s pyramid and I believe it is thoroughly well-deserved based on performances last season.
“There is a lot of continued hard work to be done now, but I have no doubt there are more exciting times to come.”
The team has been placed in Division One South and the league season will commence on Sunday, 16 August.
