Leading scorer of 1967/68 passes away
Tonbridge Angels are saddened to learn of the passing of John Ripley, who played for the Angels in 1967.
John is a Dartford legend having made over 500 appearances for the Darts, with his only season away from the club being at the Angel Ground for the 1967/68 season.
In that one season, he made a scoring debut at Folkestone  and went on to make an amazing 78 appearances, scoring 26 goals and ending the season as the leading goalscorer.
After finally leaving Dartford in 1973, John joined Hastings United and was appointed manager at the Pilot Field in January 1974, a role he continued until resigning in 1975 and joining Ramsgate as a player.
Our thoughts are with John’s family at these sad times.
