‘Lex’ Be Having You

Imposing defender Lexus Beeden is the latest piece to be added to Alan Dunne’s 2026/27 jigsaw.

Beeden, standing at 6”4, becomes the fifth former Maidstone United player this summer to make the short trip along the A26 to the Yeomans Community Stadium, Longmead to become part of Dunne’s exciting project.

He follows Nathan Harness, Sam Corne, Lamar Reynolds and Jephte Tanga who have all swapped amber for blue.

Something of a man-mountain, Beeden adds valuable aerial prowess in both boxes and while first and foremost a defender in the classic tradition, he loves to bring the ball forward with his distinctive rangey stride.

Comfortable at either centre back, or right back, with telescopic legs made for tackling, Beeden began his career at Tooting and Mitcham where his potential was spotted by Reading and in August 2019, he joined their U23 side.

In October 2020, he moved to Welling United before heading north to Darlington in May 2021.

Since then he has had spells at Carshalton Athletic, Slough Town, Farnborough and Maidstone whom he joined last June.

Beeden told Angels Media: “I’ve got real belief in what looks like an exciting project at Tonbridge.  A big thing for me is that the gaffer is an ex pro who played in the same position which means I can learn a lot from him.

“Obviously with the various moves this summer, I already know a lot of the lads and right now this feels like the best place for me to show what I can do.”

Boss Alan Dunne said: “I’m very pleased to get Lexus in the building. He’s strong, especially in the air, and is good in both boxes. He’s got physical presence and is another player coming off the back of a good season. He gives us good options in that back line and is versatile which I like. Defensively, he’s a real boost for us.”
