More Last Gasp Pain For Angels

Hemel Hempstead Town 1 Tonbridge Angels 0

Tonbridge Angels lost what would have been a valuable point, when Darion Dowrich scored the winning goal for the hosts in the 95th minute of this tight game.

The game started dramatically when Tom Leahy was booked for a foul within the first 15 seconds of play. The first attempt on goal came on seven minutes when Angels keeper Matt Rowley saved a long range shot.

Angels then had a period of pressure when both Jordon Thompson and Sean Shields tested the Hemel Hempstead keeper Michael Johnson with short range shots, which led to corner kicks. The game then switched to the other end with Isiah Noel-Williams producing a good save from Rowley, and in turn Frankie Baker produced a good save from Johnson. Baker looked a threat all half not giving Ajayi and the Hemel defence a moment’s breath.

At half time Alan Dunne brought on Alfie Pavey for Tom Leahy and on 53, Pavey had a shot blocked and the follow up from Bradley Williams was a daisycutter which drew a save from Johnson. Sean Shields was replaced by Bunmi Babajide as Dunne looked to find the winning formula but it remained nip and tuck.

On 72, Dunne rolled the dice again replacing Baker and Noah McCann with Bailey Akehurst and Tobi Omole and shortly after Hemel struck a post and began to look more threatening with substitute Kyran Wiltshire testing Rowley with a couple of fierce shots.

A Kyle Smith free kick on 88 from the edge of the area was saved by Johnson and the game looked to be heading for a draw.

The referee then indicated that there was five minutes added time, and it was with virtually the last kick of the match that Dowrich scored his very late winner after a scramble in the Angels box.
