Tommy is the Angels first head of recruitment.
Tommy brings with him a wealth of footballing experience which started in 2004 when he began his coaching career.
He moved into recruitment with Millwall in 2014 and while with The Lions built a solid reputation as a talent identification scout, recruiting several players who represented Millwall’s senior squad or obtained professional contracts elsewhere.
Tommy joined fellow South Londoners Crystal Palace in 2022, with an additional focus on acquisition monitoring and reporting, further widening his experience and knowledge in player recruitment.
His latest role before coming to Angels was Welling United’s Academy Manager. This was a senior leadership role focused on producing players while also managing recruitment and coaching staff.
Overseeing football operations, Tommy helped shape the direction of the Academy on and off the pitch, most notably their recent transition to Greenwich Borough.
Tommy, who is the younger brother of Angels assistant manager Larry McAvoy, said: “I’m really pleased to join Tonbridge as head of recruitment. The introduction of the role highlights the ambition of the club and the positive direction in which it’s heading on and off the pitch.”
