Angels Over-65 8 Maidstone United 2
The last game of 2025 saw our O65’s produce a stunning performance against local rivals Maidstone United.
From the start the Angels had complete control of the game with the first touch for our goalkeeper Jim Dalton coming in the 12th minute. We bossed the game with sharp passing and positioning and goals from Graham Smith and Steve Williams in the fifth and sixth minute saw us two up early on. Maidstone never recovered from the onslaught and goals from Ian MacDonald and another from Smith gave us a 4-0 half time lead.
In the second half Maidstone changed shape and initially started to attack but a Williams brace gave him his hat-trick and put us totally out of reach. Smith completed his hat-trick but once again running offences gave Maidstone a penalty making it 7-1. Not to be deterred Graham scored his fourth only to see Maidstone score right at the end bringing the result to 8-2. This was an excellent exhibition of Walking Football with all the players putting in a good performance.
This year has seen massive development in our Walking Football. Across all the teams we have had success. The Over-60’s Blues came runners up in the Kent League and the Kent FA WF Cup. We have won tournaments at Tonbridge, Ipswich and Southend United. We were semi-finalists in a Sussex tournament at Eastbourne and to cap it all the Ladies won the Kent League. Congratulations to everyone involved with Walking Football at Tonbridge Angels.
