Anchorians O50 1-2 Angels O50

On yet another very wet evening, Tonbridge travelled to Anchorians in Gillingham for the return fixture, having beaten the same team 11-1 two weeks ago.

As expected, they had drafted in a number of players from their O60 squad and so were a very different proposition this time round. Further changes implemented by the home side meant this game was 7 a side on a large pitch, something Tonbridge hardly play. The Manager (Craig Knowles) went for a positive approach playing two up front, one at the back but with a plan to drop to two at the back if needed. After 3 minutes we were in front with a well taken goal from David Norris, this relaxed the team into the game and for the rest of the soggy first half we dominated play, Mark Cornish in goal making one easy save and struggling to keep himself warm.

The second half continued on the same theme, Anchorians not venturing out of their half and after 6 minutes Alan Weber, on his debut, scored our second. Then out of the blue a piercing long shot drew Anchorians back into the game, the ball skimming off the pitch and bouncing just in front of Mark who was annoyed with himself for letting it in but conditions definitely played their part.

The game ended 2-1 to the Angels who now have two games left to play, the first next Monday, 8pm at Chatham and the last at home to Insulators on Saturday 28/2 10am kick off
