Weston Super Mare Preview

Tonbridge Angels face a long weather-dependent trip to Somerset to face Weston Super Mare with both teams looking to build momentum during a busy February schedule. The Angels will be aiming to produce another strong performance away from home and secure valuable points against a Seagulls side that has provided a tough test throughout the campaign.

Key Information: We are on weather watch! Weston’s game on Tuesday night was postponed as well as the previous Tuesday night’s home fixture and so with the forecast not looking ideal, the game must be considered doubtful. At this stage, there is no pitch inspection planned and we will keep fans updated as soon as we can with any news.

Squad News: Alan Dunne will be hoping to call upon an ever-increasing healthy squad as absentees start to return from injury causing the manager some difficult selection dilemmas. Saturday’s game saw the brief return of Sean Shields, but Dunne will need to check on the fitness of Scott Wagstaff after the midfielder went off injured with a dislocated shoulder.

Recent Form: Weston come into this game sitting in 5th place after their game on Tuesday night at home to Worthing fell foul to the weather. Their form has been mixed with recent defeats against Chelmsford and Hornchurch before scoring a 90th minute equaliser away at Worthing last Saturday. Angels will be looking to returning to winning ways and continue their fine away form this season.

Last Meeting: The Seagulls travelled to Kent in late October as league leaders and left with a point as both teams cancelled each other out with the game ending 0-0 with, in truth, very few chances for each side. Last season, we were leading 1-0 at The Optima Stadium, under the guidance of Scott Wagstaff, thanks to Taylor Maloney’s wonderstrike before the game was abandoned due to a medical emergency. We then visited just a few days later where a depleted Angels side lost 3-0 in the rearranged fixture.

Men to watch:
Dan Ellison: Dan is on loan from Yeovil Town whom he joined from Bristol Rovers in October. Dan is well known in the NLS and it was his form with Chippenham Town that led to his move into the Football League with The Pirates.
Luke Coulson: A player well known to Angels fans for his time spent at Kent rivals, Dartford. Luke moved to the West Country ahead of the 2024/25 season and in his first season for the Seagulls scored 23 times and assisted 22 goals.
Louis Britton: The joint-2nd top scorer in the NLS this season, Louis will be one Angels need to watch out for. After leaving Bristol City in 2022, the striker enjoyed spells at Maldon & Tiptree and Bristol Manor Farm before joining Weston in March 2025.
