Amy Scott, the girlfriend of Devonte Aransibia, is running The London Marathon next month in his memory. Her chosen charity is Samaritans. Please consider supporting Amy as she undertakes this gruelling challenge. Here is what Amy has to say:
“I’m running the London Marathon in April in memory of my boyfriend, Dev. He was such a huge part of my life and the kind of person who lifted everyone around him just by being himself. He inspired me every single day with his kindness, his energy, and the way he showed up for people without even thinking twice. I want to carry that forward and make sure his impact continues to create something good.
“I’m fundraising for Samaritans, who provide 24/7 support to anyone struggling to cope – real people, real conversations, and real help in the moments that matter. It’s a cause that truly saves lives, and one that feels incredibly important to support in Dev’s memory.
“Tonbridge Angels as a club, along with the fans, have been incredible – not just during Dev’s time there, but also in the support and kindness they’ve shown following his untimely passing. That support has meant more than I can put into words.
“If I’m honest, I’m not a natural runner at all – I only started running back in August when I signed up for the marathon, so it’s been a real challenge from the start. The training has pushed me both mentally and physically, especially getting out in the depths of winter when it’s dark, cold, and the last thing you want to do is go for a run. But having a reason behind it all has kept me going on the hard days.
“Every run feels like it has purpose, and knowing I’m doing it in Dev’s memory – and hopefully raising money to support others – makes it all worthwhile.
